_ A Laser Beacon System to assist driving in conditions of reduced visibility (extreme fog, particles in suspension, etc.,) allowing the driver to see the road layout much better than the reduced visibility allows other objects to be seen, ensuring greater safety for the road user.
This is achieved by activating a laser beam which marks the road layout.
The beam is emitted from beacons equipped with a semiconductor laser diode. It projects a pulsed laser beam, which is intercepted by the next beacon, creating a polygonal line providing clear vision of the road layout. The photons of the pulsed laser light beam, collide with the particles in suspension, (condensed water which forms fog, dust, sand etc.,) thereby allowing a continuous light to be seen between the beacons.
The system includes sensors that detect both the presence of objects that could intercept the laser beam between beacons, and potential deviations of the beam due to displacement of, or impact on, the beacons, thereby avoiding a distorted view of the road layout.
